Drip, Drip, Drip

Today was one of those winter days when the sun was shining so beautifully and the temperatures reached a whopping 50 degrees. Along with this warm weather surprise comes the inevitable melting of snow. Snow on the grass, snow on the pavement, snow on the roofs; and do you know what happens when the snow on the roof melts? Let me give you a hint…

Drip, drip, drip.

Not just little water droplets...big, fat water droplets, streaming from every roof of every building. Subconsciously you begin playing a game. It is a universal game that everybody knows the rules to because they are so darn simple: Don’t get wet.

In a typical round of the game you suddenly find yourself changing your pace as you approach the said buildings. You might even begin walking sideways in order to find the ideal location to embark on your journey toward the indoors. When you think you have found that sweet, waterless spot, you wait; and when that perfect moment arrives…you bolt. Your stride lengthens and your pace quickens. You might even duck as you find yourself directly below the roof edge. Like that’s going to do anything.

Plunk.

The second you feel that cold wet sensation splashing on your head, you sigh. It is a sigh of defeat because once again, the water droplets have beaten you at the game.
