Tonight...

I am especially grateful for 2 things…

1. That although it feels like it, I have not lost my sanity amid the finals week pressure every BYU student is feeling right now. As I approached the Library tonight a girl was laying face down on the floor near the doors screaming her head off. She had completely lost it. The cops were surrounding her without a clue of what to do, and she was shouting incoherent thoughts and pounding the ground. I've been disturbed by it all night...i just hope she's okay.

2. Great friends that make finals week bearable. One friend in particular made my studying exceptionally exciting tonight when this was given to me:

Studying at the library till 2 in the a.m. with chocolate at my side…piece of cake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATEY-DID!!!

love you mucho mucho much!

Funny Story

Just to preface...

My life long companion, aka my laptop of 4 years, is slowly dying. Currently the "P" button is having serious issues. If i press down for about a minute on it as hard as i can, it will sometimes work. But I'm better off just typing without it and spell checking a bagillion words at the end.

Anyway...

This morning I was typing a paper for my political science class when i noticed the most hilarious typo. I tried to type the word "populated" but with the lack of a "p" in the word, my computer auto corrected it to something else. See for yourself...

"Utah is highly ovulated by Mormons"?

HA!

I about died laughing.

For all the frustration a broken letter "p" can cause, it sure does provide some entertainment!

yikes!

Clearly my spider encounter yesterday traumatized me...

I had a dream last night that there was a hobo spider in my bed and I wasn't allowed to get out.

It was terrifying and I didn't get much sleep to say the least.

Also, I am happy to announce that I finally signed up for spring classes

AND

I signed a spring contract.

Phewf. I was beginning to think that cardboard box i saw on the sidewalk was going to be my new home...

Let’s get one thing straight

I hate spiders (or any kind of bug for that matter) more than anything on the planet. Maybe this hate is why I encounter the said creepy crawly creatures on what seems to be a daily basis.

Like today for example:

I had just gotten back from a run and I was frantically getting ready for the class I was going to be late for. Out of the corner of my eye i saw something black above me. As I slowly looked up my fears were confirmed. A big fuzzy black spider was crawling on the ceiling overhead. Gulp.

Despite the hate I have for spiders I can honestly say that no spider has died intentionally at my hands. Not only do I avoid killing the monsters because I am scared of them, but also because for some strange reason I feel sorry for them.

That being said, as I realized what was above me I began gathering a couple things: a large cup (preferably an opaque one) and a chair. I placed the chair below the spot where the spider was situated and climbed up. With an accelerated heart rate and breath being held I closed my eyes, placed the cup on the ceiling, and heard a small thud as the spider landed in my cup.

Mission Accomplished. Or so I thought…

I pulled the cup back to confirm that my victim had been caught when to my horror the spider climbed out from the cup and onto my hand. At this point I flung the cup from my hands and started shaking my hand (and all other extremities for that matter) psychotically. To add to the insanity of it all I couldn’t help but scream like there was no tomorrow.

And for all I know there won’t be a tomorrow because that nasty, vile, hair-raising THING is somewhere in the abyss of my room!

Why, for the love of all things, must spiders exist???

p.s. I googled "spiders" to find a picture for this post and about threw up when i saw the search results. Due to nausea i refrained from posting a picture. You're welcome.

I had the best day today...

Want to know why?

I got to spend a few short hours with the sunshine of my life!

Yup you heard me. My dog is the sunshine of my life.

Crazy? Obsessive?

Maybe.

But I just don’t care because it’s the truth.

So thank you Soph, for making a regular ol' Wednesday just marvelous!

{a few thoughts}

Repeat after me: I love Utah, I love Utah, I love Utah, I love Utah.

Mainly I am telling myself to repeat after me, because currently I do NOT love Utah! In fact, I am feeling pretty angry at Utah right now. Snow? SNOW???? Ah!!!!!! I can’t handle this!

Whenever people at BYU hear me complain about the snow or the cold they ask “aren’t you from Utah? Shouldn’t you be used to this?” Well in answer to that question…I will never. ever. be used to winter weather. I will continue to dream of my perfect world where it snows 3 days a year: Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years. Yup, that sounds pretty good right about now as I look despairingly out my window at the large frozen puffs of snow whirling to the ground.

Speaking of snow, there isn’t any snow in the movie “Tangled”. Which is reason number 89 why it's the best movie in the world. But seriously! The movie is pure genius. I want magic hair and I want to see the floating lanterns. And has anyone else ever coveted the over-sized princess eyes present in every Disney movie? Well I have…until I picture what eyes the size of eggs would look like in real life…yikes! Perhaps is it better they remain cartoon.

Welp, that’s it for me today. The weekend starts….NOW. Happy Friday!!!
